ContactA typical day
A typical day during your bike tour in the Netherlands offers a perfect balance of cycling, sightseeing, and relaxation.
08:00 / 8 AM
Your day begins with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Expect a wide array of local treats: freshly baked bread, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, and fresh fruits, providing the energy you need for a day of exploration. The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of the breakfast room sets the tone for the day, allowing you to fuel up at a leisurely pace before heading out on your ride.
09:30 / 9.30 AM
You are ready to hit the road. The day’s cycling begins at a comfortable pace, with the flexibility to adjust your speed depending on the mileage for the day. The Netherlands is known for its flat terrain, making it an ideal place for cyclists of all levels to enjoy the scenery without too much strain. You will be riding through picturesque landscapes of lush fields, charming villages, and tranquil canals, all while following carefully planned cycling routes. The route might take you through beautiful rural areas, quiet towns, or even along the coast, where you can catch glimpses of the North Sea.
12:00 / 12 PM
Around midday, you’ll pause for a leisurely lunch. There’s no rush—take your time to enjoy a break in one of the many cafés or charming restaurants you’ll encounter along the way. Dutch cuisine offers a variety of delicious options, from hearty sandwiches to fresh salads or local specialties like herring, croquette or poffertjes (small, fluffy pancakes). This lunch stop is also a great chance to rest, chat with fellow cyclists, or simply take in the local culture. You may even have time to enjoy a quiet moment by a canal or in a village square, watching the world go by before continuing your journey.
15:00 / 3 PM
You made it! By this time, you’ve covered a good distance of approximately 35-50 km (or more on road bikes), and it’s time to check in at your hotel. The hotels we work with are always conveniently located in the city center, making it easy for you to explore the town on foot once you’ve arrived. After a day of cycling, there’s nothing better than a leisurely stroll through the town, where you can visit key attractions, wander through historic streets, or stop for a coffee at a local café. Whether you’re exploring the canals of Amsterdam or the charming streets of Haarlem, your time in the town is yours to enjoy.
18:30 / 6.30 PM
If you take your time visiting sights during your cycling tour, it might reduce the time you have to explore your overnight location, but this is entirely up to you. The flexibility of the tour means you can make the most of each day according to your preferences. When the day starts winding down, you can head out for a relaxed dinner. Dutch dinners are typically served at this time, and many local restaurants offer a variety of options, from traditional Dutch fare to international cuisine. Enjoy a meal in the town center, perhaps sampling local fish or cheeses.
20:30 / 8.30 PM
After dinner, you can stroll back to your hotel, where your bike is safely parked in the hotel’s secure bike parking facility. This facility is available at all the hotels that we book, so you can rest assured that your bike is safely stored while you relax for the evening. With your bike safely parked, you can spend the rest of your evening enjoying the town, or simply unwind in your room, ready to rest up for the next day’s adventure.
The beauty of this bike tour is the combination of cycling through the country’s beautiful landscapes, taking the time to explore historic cities, and having the freedom to adjust the pace of your day according to your interests. Each day offers the perfect blend of activity and relaxation, leaving you with lasting memories of the Netherlands.
