Tulip season is busy season at Holland Bike Tours

If you’ve noticed a bit of silence on our Facebook and news feeds lately, there’s a good reason! The tulip season in the Netherlands is in full swing, and here at Holland Bike Tours, we’ve been busy out in the fields with cyclists, enjoying the breathtaking views of the vibrant blooms. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year, as tulip season attracts cyclists from all over the world.

Tulip season typically reaches its peak in April, but by May, the focus of the farmers shifts. As the flowers begin to fade, many of the tulip fields are cut, allowing the plants to direct all their energy into growing the bulbs. These bulbs are then either sold abroad or planted for the following year’s crop. However, while the tulip fields are a major highlight, there’s so much more to discover in the Netherlands during this time!

For those looking to experience even more of the country’s floral wonders, we highly recommend a visit to the Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer—the largest flower auction in the world. Every day, over 40 million flowers are sold here, making it a fascinating and vibrant spectacle that any flower lover should not miss.

And of course, no trip to the Netherlands during tulip season would be complete without a visit to the iconic Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse. Known as the “Garden of Europe,” Keukenhof is open until May 19th and showcases stunning tulip displays in all their glory. The park is meticulously maintained, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the tulips at their best throughout the season.
