Discover Naarden-Vesting: A well maintained fortified town in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is known in particular for it’s capital city Amsterdam. However, the Netherlands has much more to offer that lots of people do not know of. In this news feed we try to inform people about some of the other great places to visit in the Netherlands. One of these places is the town of Naarden-Vesting. It is a star shaped fortified town, and very well maintained. When cycling through the Netherlands this is definitely a great place to spend some time!

Points of Interest
> Fortress | Naarden-Vesting is one big Fortress. When seeing a picture from above, you see a snowflake grid. Take your time to walk of cycle around the walls. Also within the walls there is a lot of beautiful architecture and history to be found. You can wonder around for hours!
> Utrechtse Poort | This is the old city gate from the Fortress. It is very well maintained. At the gate you can also find the VVV of Naarden (tourist information center)

Museums
> Netherlands Fortress Museum | Insight in fortress and it’s history. Not only the defense line of Amsterdam, but also the water management. Plus, there is some great views from within this museum! Canons are being fired regularly in high season. The museum has guided tours and is also great to visit with kids.
The museum is open from Friday to Monday, from 10:30 till 17:00. A ticket is €9.50,-

> Vestingvaart | Not feeling like walking or cycling around that much? You can also take a guided boat tour around the Fortress. There is 4 departures a day at 12:00 / 13.30 / 15:00 / 16.30. A ticket is €7,-

> Oud Valkeveen | Cycling with children? And have some extra time in this town? Then a visit to the amusement park Oud Valkeveen is recommended. You can find many different playgrounds, costumed artist and terraces to have a bite or drink. Kids can spend all day here.
On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the park is open from 12:00 till 17:00. On Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the park is open from 10:00 till 17:00. A ticket is €13.50,-
